Ubisoft’s The Division 2 is not coming to Steam

At the end of the last year, we’ve published an article about iconic games that lost their popularity. The first item on the list is Tom Clancy’s The Division. The sequel to that game, as announced on the last E3, will be released next March on all the current-gen consoles and PC. The big news is, The Division 2 will not be available on Steam!

Ubisoft revealed that the long-awaited game will be sold only through Epic Games Store and UPlay (Ubisoft’s own). This is considered like a shot in the arm for the giant digital distribution platform, Steam.

From the moment the fortnite developer’s store was launched last December, it kept gaining ground on the game distribution industry. The success is mostly due to the reduced sales cut of 12%, which is very much lower than Valve Steam’s 30%.

Epic games sales cut

In addition to the AAA games developers and publishers, Epic Games new economic model attracts a lot of indie game developers, since they see it as a major opportunity to promote their work.

Also, the new store will help the players discover a wide range of games, by featuring a free game every two weeks throughout 2019.

So, if initially Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 had been listed on Steam, now it’s no longer available on the plateform. Epic Game great hope is to be able to soak up the whole Ubisoft’s UPlay store, dragging along all the fan base.
