Supercell, the editor of the famous Clash of Clans and Clash Royal, have just finished their new project named “Brawl Stars”, an online mobile game that can be played on Android and iOS devices.
Brawlers
In each game of Brawl Stars, you control a character called a “Brawler”. There are many classes of Brawlers, you start with a basic character named “Shelly”, then you unlock new ones by winning matches and gaining experience or directly via in-game purchases.
Brawlers are classed by rarity families. You find Common, Rare, Super Rare, Epic, Mythic and Legendary classes. Also, each character comes with different skins that can be unlocked or purchased throughout the game.
A Brawler is characterized by:
- Health: The health points of the Brawler. Whenever the character takes a hit, the health takes damage. It can be regenerated throughout the game;
- Range: The attack range at which a Brawler may shoot its weapon at another player. Each Brawler has an “Attack range” for its basic attack and a “Super range” for its super attack.
- Reload: It’s time needed by the Brawler to reload its weapon. Same for the range, there’s an “Attack reload” and a “Super reload” time;
- Bullets per attack: It’s the number of bullets that the Brawler’s weapon shoots whenever it attacks. The number of the basic attack bullets might differ from the super attack’s;
- Damage per shell: The damage that each fired bullet causes to the enemy’s health. This number might be different between the basic and the super attack.
Game Modes
Brawl Stars offers many game modes, most of them are 3v3. You can play with your friends or be a part of a random team thanks to the match-making option.
Currently, the most played mode is the “Gem Grab”. It’s a 3v3 mode that takes place in a map with Crystal mine in the middle, which generates a gem every few seconds.
The goal is for your team to grab 10 gems or more while fighting the other team. Every time a team member dies, they will drop all the gems they have gathered.
Once a team has 10 gems, they should hold that number for 16 seconds, a countdown would appear on the screen to keep track of that. When it hits 0, the team with the most gems over 10 will win.
Another game mode is “Showdown”, a solo-player battle royal, where you have to face another 9 brawlers and manage to be the last man standing. As the time goes, the play zone becomes smaller since a deadly gas coveres the rest of the map, just like Fortnite or PubG.
Conclusion
Brawl Stars is still a new game, with a great potential. The good part of it, like other Supercell games, is that you won’t be obliged to spend your money on the in-game purchases, because being a good player is an accepted currency in the game and it’ll be sufficient for you to make it up to the top.
