4/ Bullet trains are statistically considered the safest way to travel the world
Bullet trains are, arguably, considered the safest way for travelling, compared to other transportation means,
In Japan, more than 10 billion passengers have ridden the high-speed rails, no one of them has been killed in a crash.
5/ Tunnel boom is a real thing, and it does sound like a sonic boom!
A shockwave is built up when a bullet train runs through a tunnel at high speed (approaching 200 mph), it sounds, upon the exit, as loud as a sonic boom.
The effect of the tunnel boom is so powerful, enough to knock a train off the rails! That’s why, in Japan, there are speed limitations in almost every tunnel.
6/ Japanese are allowed to ride next-gen bullet trains for free!
Japan built a huge test track for the next-gen bullet trains, it’s around 12 mile-long. Locals are often allowed to ride the in-test trains.
